Film Maker Training

Filmmaker Training

10-13 years

Sound Set? Camera Rolling? Action! Calling all filmmakers aged between 10 and 13 years of age to be a part of this exciting new course with ASPA-FTV. Designed for the junior filmmaker who wants to participate in the making of a short film from Pre-Production to Post-Production and screening, all whilst gaining hands on experience in a nurturing and focused environment.

During this nine week course, whilst under the tuition and guidance of Dale Norton, the student will continue their life-long filmmaker training, participating in classes geared towards the production a short 2-3 minute film which will be screened in week 9 for friends and family. Each student will also be presented with a DVD (or vimeo, youtube link) of their film to showcase their filming talents to the world. In addition, each student will have the opportunity to present a talk re-capping their experience, highlighting what they have gained from the course. Consider it practice for an Oscar speech!

Each class will highlight an integral part of the the film-making process, addressing important filmmaking processes and components through both practical and theoretical training including camera operating, sound recording, lighting and editing. Further to this, the student will be involved in script selection, creating shotlists and production scheduling. What’s even better is that this course has been designed to be ongoing – meaning that even after completion of the course, the student will be invited back to continue their filmmaker training in a subsequent term with a new script, thereby gaining more hands on experience! Who knows – perhaps Filmmaker Training will help debut the future Spielberg’s, Cameron’s and Bigelows of the world?

That’s a wrap (filmmaker lingo to complete a day’s filming ;)). We will see you on set!
